Believe and Walk for the Cure PDF Print E-mail

In 2008, more than 271,530 women lost their lives to some form of cancer. Not only are these statistics overwhelming but also 1 in 3 women living in the United States will develop cancer at some point in their life.

Those that live in the Inland Empire, where the population is larger than that of 24 states, deserve the best in cancer care. For the past 2 years, Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer have teamed up to present the Annual Believe & Walk for the Cure event in the historic district of Redlands. Last year’s Inland Empire Believe Walk benefited the new Cancer Center at Loma Linda University Medical Center. In 2008, more than 1,700 people turned out for the first event. The number of participants more than doubled in 2009!

2008’s Walk raised more than $200,000 for the Patient Resource Center at Loma Linda University Cancer Center. The Patient Resource Center is a much-needed aspect to Cancer Treatment for both men and women facing this disease. All patients both men and women being treated for cancer at Loma Linda will have access to the Resource Center. Purposely located in the middle of the Cancer Center and immediately adjacent to both the medical oncology and radiation oncology suites, the Cancer Resource Center is designed to be the "hub/meeting place" within the Cancer Center. The Cancer Resource Center is an important part of the Loma Linda University Cancer Center because it is specifically designed to serve patients by providing them and their families with an avenue for emotional and health support as well as guided access to the Cancer Center's 11 centers of excellence.

The funds donated from the Walk went directly to the Programs and Services already in place within the current Cancer Center enabling the patients who are receiving treatments right now to have the best possible Cancer care.

Project Pueblo is pleased to have partnered up with Believe and Walk for the Cure during their first 2 Walks and we look forward to helping them again in 2010!  We hope that you and your friends will join us in 2010 for this great event!
